New surgery planned

Well, the latest is that I will be going in for surgery to remove (or Take down) my oscomy bag on Monday. The dye job showed no leaks in my new setup. I'm still VERY concerned about keeping hydrated, since even on the maximum amount of meds, I'm putting out too much liquid.

I may be going home on Friday, then return on Monday for the procedure. The writeup on the takedown surgery says 3-5 days recovery at the hospital, so by all accounts, I'll be home for good by the end of next week. Aren't I just the optimistic one!

I'd like to thank all of you for your calls, visits, notes and prayers. It has meant a lot to me. I'll keep y'all up to date on my progress through this blog.

Feel the love,

Jennie

  1. Do try gatorade. Listen to your ostomy expert in this blog. And being reconnected, will retain the fluid so there will be better and better reabsorbtion. Time to by some desitin ointment too ;) I'm guessing there's an initial "leakage" issue till the door gets acquainted with the loose contents. Be positive and think about the fact that this will be over sooner than you think.

  3. Jennie,

    A poem for your amusement.....

She whispered "will it hurt me?"
    "Of course not" answered he
    "It's a very simple process,
    You can rely on me."

    She said "I'm very frightened,
    I've not had this before.
My friend has had it five times
And said it can be sore."

    It was growing rather painful
    Tears formed in her eyes
It was hurting quite a bit now
It must have been the size.

    "Calm yourself" he whispered
"His face filled with a grin
    "Try and open wider
So I can get it in."

    "It's coming now" he whispered
"I know" she cried in bliss
Feeling it deep within her now
She said "I am glad I'm having this."

    And with a final effort
    She gave a frightened shout
    He gripped it in anguish
    And quickly pulled it out.

    She lay back quite contended
    Sighed and gave a smile
She said "I'm glad I came now
You made it worth my while."

Now if you read this carefully
    The dentist you will find
    Is not what you imagined
    It's just your dirty mind!

    Cheerio,
    JB
